Straight Talk
Lets face it the Internet can be a scary place and children as young as 4 are now surfing without supervision. Kids are not always the best judges of what's right, wrong, proper behavior, or other peoples motives or character. We are parents ourselves . We are trying to build a social networking site for children and make it fun and safe We are human just like everyone else. We are not infallible. We take this site very seriously and we are trying to make it as fun and as safe as we possible can.
How this site works
This site is designed for children that are not realy ready for interaction yet with the world at large. It is mostly a place for them to play games without any outside linking where they can interact with there existing friends & reletivies. Parents and gardians are encouraged to join the site along with their children. Helping to set up accounts for their relatives (grandperants/cousines etc) is highly encouraged. and will help them with their interactive skills. This way your child will learn to interact digitally in a safe envirement. It is highly encourage that you read the help files especially on acces rights and settings (who can interact with or view your childs content) You must be over the legal age to sign up for this site However you can be under the legal age to have and run an account. (what does this mean)? Basically this site is for children but they must be signed up by a legal guardian to accept our terms and conditions. Basically a parent or legal guardian must approve a child's account by initializing the account validation. Why? well we want the child to be as safe as possible. We don't want children to be on our site without their guardians approval. Why? well for safety reasons A child's guardian can monitor the child's access to the site and keep a closer eye on what the child is doing better than anyone else. We have safety features built into the site that a Guardian is more likely to pay attention to than a Child. This does not mean you are expected to be online with your child while they surf this site You can monitor your child's on site interactions without even signing into the site. FBFKiddies unlike it's sister sites FBFKids and FBFTeens differs in ways that the site is very games and graphic oriented, there are no Chat rooms on FBFKiddies. Your child will gain mostly from this site by bringing in his own real world friends and or relatives (cousins Mom Dad Grandparents) to interact with.
Who we are and who is FBFKiddies.
We are a family just like yourselves. I am a Mother of 2 (Mother Hen) My oldest son is 20 and very heavily into computers and on site videos and games My youngest son is just approaching 5 and is just starting to surf My Husband Studied Computer Science at The University of Weston Ontario I am originally Dutch, as is my oldest son. My Youngest son was born in Spain and My Husband is English having lived in Canada, and America. I speak 4 Languages (Dutch, German, Spanish, and English) and we all now live in in the UK. We are all working on this site full time 18 hours a day and are very short staffed. The concept was originally thought up by myself, as my youngest son kept ending up on some questionable sites by clicking flashy fun looking, gifs. Even with safety features installed on his computer. I asked my husband to build him a home page with some games on it without any outside links Some of our friends heard about it and then our relatives children, and the site grew from there. At this moment in time we are not getting paid or receiving any type of financial compensation for all our work on the site. This will have to change just for the site to pay for itself. The concept was thought of in October of 2008 and we went live to the public (basically our friends) Christmas Day 2008. We were taken aback by the uptake on the sites membership, being nothing less than staggeringly phenomenal. We are getting visits from well over 110 countries world wide. To this end we are in the process of translating the site into several more languages We have members from most European counties North America, South America, Australia, Malaysia and more. We Have now implemented our own server Our New Servers are handling the bandwidth weight and traffic with room to spare.and has improved the sites speed, response, and security. We are a very young site with an exceptional growth rate Any of our technical problems are now being resolved by the addition to our team of a double masters degree, computer security and software expert.
Safety.
The main aim of this site is child safety. To this end we have implemented numerous safety features Please see our safety page for complete details. If you are not going to read the entire safety statement at least read and Understand the 5 Golden rules NEVER NEVER NEVER post your e-mail address, your street address, or phone number ANYWHERE on this site If anything makes you uncomfortable TELL YOUR PARENTS about it or use the report content button on the left hand side of every page Never arrange to meet anybody for the first time you have come into contact with through this or any other Internet site, unless you are accompanied by a trusted Adult If someone is mean to you or makes you feel uncomfortable Tell your guardian or babysitter it's that easy A Message To Parents 5. Make your child's use of this site conditional on adhering to the above rules (please note *These are not the site rules but basic safety rule) What FBFKids does to make this site safe WE review each morning all content that has been inserted into the site and will remove any (if found) that does not adhere to our content suitability rules. We review each morning all messages and investigate any that we find that may break site rules or safety rules. We will delete anything we find questionable. We cannot bring back or delete emails that are sent off site, but we will warn a child if we see them engaging in questionable safety practices (i.e. sending someone their phone number or off site contact information). This is for there benefit. We monitor the site and log and record everything that has been said, and between whom, in each private conversation, and will review these records if there appears to be any problem at all. Parents remember that under your child's personal setting is the ability to have all contacts, friend requests, comments, and messages, posted to your child sent to your e-mail address (the e-mail address on record) so you can review your child's interactions on the site.(this is the default setting). We suggest you take advantage of this ability and review your child's use of the site. Should you change this e-mail address it will have to be re-validated or you will be locked out of the site(check your spam or junk folders) inform your mail account that e-mails from fbfkiddies.com & (FBFKIDS.com) is safe. Your child's Profile, Blogs, Groups, and photos, and content Under nearly everything your child enters, uploads or inputs into the site is an access button, This button gives the access rights on who may view the content There Are 3(2)* settings. Private (Only your child may see it).
